How to Quote Aluminium Windows: A Pricing Guide for Installers
Aluminium window quotes go wrong for the same reasons every time: missing profile specs, wrong glass area, incorrect tax split. This guide walks you through every line item — with real price ranges for 2026.
Aluminium window quotes fail for predictable reasons: no profile series specified, glass area confused with frame area, VAT applied as a single rate across labour and materials, lead time missing. The client can't compare your quote to a competitor's. You look less professional. Sometimes you under-price. This guide walks you through every line item — with real 2026 price ranges.
What determines the price of aluminium windows?
Six variables drive the price of an aluminium window before a single hour of installation is counted:
- Profile system — the manufacturer and series (e.g. Schüco AWS 75, Reynaers CS 86, Technal Unicity). Each has different Uf values, sight-line widths, and price points. Brand matters for commercial clients.
- Uf value — thermally-broken profiles range from Uf 1.4 (standard) to Uf 0.8 (high-performance slim frame). Lower Uf = more polyamide fill = higher material cost. The difference between Uf 1.4 and Uf 0.8 is typically €80–€150/m².
- Colour / RAL powder coat — standard RAL colours (e.g. RAL 9016 white, RAL 7016 anthracite) are stock. Custom RAL or anodised finishes add €40–€90/m² and 2-4 weeks to lead time.
- Glass — standard double (4-15-4 argon, HR++) and triple glazing (4-12-4-12-4) have significantly different price points. Always quote glass as a separate line item — it's the largest variable cost.
- Dimensions — always quote frame dimensions (outside to outside), not daylight opening. Larger frames use more profile material and glass by area.
- Hardware — standard SKG* tilt-and-turn hardware vs SKG*** anti-burglary multipoint locks. Hardware can add €80–€250 per window unit.
2026 price ranges by profile type
Indicative materials-only prices (excl. glass, hardware, installation):
| Profile type | Price / m² (materials) | Uf value | Typical lifespan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard thermally-broken | €280 – €380 | 1.2 – 1.4 W/m²K | 30 – 40 years |
| Mid-range thermally-broken | €350 – €450 | 0.9 – 1.2 W/m²K | 35 – 45 years |
| High-performance slim frame | €450 – €650 | 0.7 – 0.9 W/m²K | 40 – 50 years |
Add €40–€80/m² for standard double glazing, €90–€150/m² for triple. Add €80–€150/m² for a 2-person installation team (prep, fit, seal, cleanup). RAL custom finish: +€40–€90/m².
Line-by-line aluminium window quote breakdown
A complete aluminium window quote should show these lines separately:
- Profile supply — manufacturer, series, Uf value, colour/finish, frame dimensions. Price per unit or per m².
- Glazing package — glass type (double/triple), Ug value, gas fill (argon/krypton), spacer type (warm edge or aluminium). Price per m² of glass area.
- Hardware — security class, handle finish, any specialist hardware (motorised, tilt-slide, push-to-open). Price per unit.
- Installation — labour — hours × rate per 2-person team, including removal of old frame if applicable. Separate line from materials so VAT can be applied correctly.
- VAT — residential renovation: 9% on the labour line, 21% on materials and glass. Commercial/new-build: 21% on all lines. B2B VAT reversal: 0% with reverse-charge notation.
- Lead time + validity — standard lead time for powder-coat stock profiles: 4-6 weeks. Custom RAL: 8-12 weeks. State quote validity (30 days is standard — prices are volatile in 2026).
5 common mistakes in aluminium quotes
- No profile series specified — "aluminium window" without a series name allows a competitor to win on price with a lower-spec system. Always name the profile.
- Missing Uf value — clients comparing three quotes need to verify thermal performance. A quote without Uf looks incomplete or evasive.
- Wrong VAT split — applying 21% across the board on a residential renovation job means the client overpays VAT and your quote looks more expensive than a correctly-split competitor's.
- No lead-time clause — "materials subject to availability" protects you from price increases between quote and order. Without it, you absorb the price difference.
- Glass area vs frame area confusion — quoting glass per m² of frame area (larger) rather than actual glass area (smaller) can make a quote look cheap, then cause a dispute on final invoice. Always separate frame and glass pricing.
How Kozynofferte handles aluminium quoting
Kozynofferte's configurator lets you store profiles by series with Uf value, per-m² pricing, and colour variants. When you configure a window in a quote, the glazing package, hardware, and installation are on separate lines. VAT splits — 9%/21% residential, 21% commercial, 0% reversal — are applied automatically based on the customer type you select.
The PDF output shows profile series, Uf, dimensions, Ug, VAT split, lead time, and validity — everything a commercial client or architect needs to approve without a follow-up call.
